As a branding and marketing professional who has chosen to specialise in LinkedIn, I love the value LinkedIn provides, but I equally love connecting in person. Nothing beats face to face. #LinkedInLocalPerth beings the online and offline world together.
LinkedIn is the world’s largest professional social network and the perfect place to connect and build relationships with people in your professional world. It allows us to connect with people we know and discover, and people who discover us, in a virtual capacity.
First impressions count, in person, and online in LinkedIn and search engines such as Google, so it is worth setting up your profile to brand yourself professionally with personality. Using LinkedIn for online networking and relationship building increases your visibility, whilst curating and creating valuable content also amplifies your credibility within your area of expertise. It allows people to get to know you before they meet you in person, or to learn more about you after meeting you or hearing about you.
It made sense to bring my event background, LinkedIn expertise and passion for social networking together to collaborate with a fellow LinkedIn specialist, Darrel Griffin (known as The LinkedIn Mentor) with a complementary skill set. Knowing each other for a number of years, troubleshooting issues and sharing ideas, we found the perfect event to join forces on. Once we announced the collaboration and gained interest, we met our third project partner, the fabulous Jo Harper, who is a huge advocate for using LinkedIn to connect and build relationships.
What is #LinkedInLocalPerth ?
#LinkedInLocal is a place to meet your connections in person and make new connections through your network. We are the Perth event facilitators.
The #LinkedInLocal movement is the brainchild of Anna McAfee, who launched the first event in Coffs Harbour in mid 2017. She said the event is all about promoting the idea of building online relationships offline and supporting local businesses.
Why Attend #LinkedInLocalPerth ?
Some of our attendees share why they attended;

To embrace the spirit of collaboration, support for local business, and keep the event costs down, we have generous event partners, who have provided valuable services, from hosting the event to capturing the event to feeding our attendees delicious snacks. This includes;
- Liberty Executive Offices
- Online Videos Perth
- Electric Agency
- Perth Personality Photography
- Cherry’s Catering
Why Support #LinkedInLocalPerth ?
“Liberty is a business that differentiates through its people and culture, so it makes sense to partner with a movement that encourages human interaction” Jamie Vine, Liberty Executive Offices
“Great networking… great way to mingle and showcase our business”, Kate and Deb, Cherry’s Catering
We also love to offer door prizes, and thank those who have generously donated fabulous prizes at previous events, including Jo, Darrel and myself.
For each event, we have a chosen charity partner, who receive a donation via the event proceeds. So far we have supported Opportunity International Australia and Starlight Foundation.
We would love to invite you to come along and meet your Perth LinkedIn network at our next event. Get to know your connections and make some new ones, while learning how to extend the value LinkedIn provides through our interactive activities. If networking is something you find intimidating let us know so that we can ensure you are introduced to someone straight way. You will most likely find many of your 1stor 2ndlevel connections in the room.
